Julian Naidoo’s journey into the world of automotive repair began in the face of personal tragedy and adversity. Having lost his father at the age of five and his mother when he was just seventeen, Julian faced significant challenges early in life. Despite these hardships, he learned resilience and determination, channelling his energy into a passion for fixing cars.
What does TDC mean?
TDC stands for Top Dogg Conversions, a nickname given to him among friends for his love and passion for building fast cars.
TDC AUTO REPAIRS PTY LTD was founded in 2015 by Julian Naidoo and his wife, Mellisa. His start in the automotive industry began with a workshop on Khan Road. This initial setup allowed him to reach customers and develop his craft.
Julian’s commitment to quality and service quickly became apparent. His reputation grew, prompting a move to a larger workshop situated in Willowton. This transition marked a significant step in his journey, enabling him to serve a broader clientele while offering more services for his customers, such as panel beating and spray-painting.
In 2024, Julian established a larger workshop at 28 Boshoff Street. This location represented a major evolution for his business, as it was not only larger but also allowed for more advanced services, equipment, and work capacity.
In 2023, Julian's wife Mellisa, who is also an entrepreneur, joined his business full time as Operations Manager, handling Compliance, Health and Safety, Procurement, Daily Operations, and Media. The shop earned a five-star rating from motor industry giants RMI MIWA under her leadership. This was a big step, as it allowed TDC AUTO REPAIRS PTY LTD to gain more exposure within Insurance and Government sectors.
Mellisa encourages greater female representation in traditionally male-dominated fields. "It has been an interesting journey navigating into the world of Automotive Repairs as a female and it has ignited a new passion to expand our business even further. No business can reach its full potential on its own, together with our team and by the grace of God, we have managed to persevere. This is just the beginning, and I have more in store for our customers. I am looking forward to opening a Spare Shop in the next coming months, as well as the Renovation of our Panel shop." - Mellisa
